On Saturday, December 6, 2025, the Urban Development and City Governance Project (UDCGP), funded by JICA ODA Loan and executed by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Bangladesh, hosted a vibrant Year-End Team Building and Occupational Health & Safety Workshop at the scenic Aristocrat Resort Ltd., Purbachal. The event ran from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, creating a full day of learning, collaboration, and celebration.
The workshop commenced with a warm Opening Speech by Team Leader Mr. Raymund G. Go, followed by an inspiring Inauguration by Project Director Mr. Md Abdur Rouf, setting a positive tone for the day. The day was filled with creative challenges like the Structure Building exercise using unconventional materials, alongside interactive group sessions and cultural activities that fostered teamwork and learning. Energizing breaks and refreshments kept participants comfortable throughout, leading to an exciting award ceremony and a heartfelt closing that left everyone motivated, connected, and inspired.

Since February 2023, Nippon Koei Bangladesh Ltd. (NKB), in joint venture with Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. (NK), Japan, and other partners has been providing design, supervision, and project management for the Urban Development and City Governance Project (UDCGP) under LGED, one of JICA’s largest contributions with a consultancy contract value of about USD 16.32 million. The daylong event was attended by NK representatives Mr. Toshimitsu Tanaka and Ms. Wakana Soma, and NKB leaders including Managing Director Mr. Akira Kawai, Mr. Sadiqur Rahman (ETD), and Mr. Agniv Sengupta (BPD). They praised its flawless organization and its role in strengthening professional ties. The workshop reinforced occupational health and safety awareness while celebrating teamwork, making it a truly impactful experience.
